Thank you so much for the help!! Does he need to fill out or provide any documents that he is in the army to include in the packet?

Also when going to the biometrics appointment we do not need to do any sort of interview correct?

As per the document list above, he'll need to provide a letter from the army confirming his salary and length of service (and the other details mentioned above)

Nope, biometrics are taken by US immigration on behalf of UKVI, so they are just there to take your fingerprints and photo... they have nothing to do with your application and don't even care what type of visa you are applying for.

The appointment only takes 5-10 minutes and all that will happen is:
- they will check your ID and appointment confirmation sheet
- they will stamp the sheet
- they will take your fingerprints and photo
- you go home

You shouldn't need your printed application form, but someone was told they had to show it for their appointment, so it's worth taking it with you.

Okay awesome!

And then after the biometrics form is stamped we have to go to a Visa Application Center right? To send off our form. And if it is priority service do we include that in the application?

No, there are no Visa Application Centers in the US.

Biometrics are done at a USCIS Application Support Center, and then you have 5 days from the biometrics appointment to mail your passport, application forms, stamped sheet and all the supporting documents to Sheffield for processing.

See here for how to apply in the US:
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/usa-apply-for-a-uk-visa/apply-for-a-uk-visa-in-the-usa

If you want to purchase priority processing and/or return shipping labels, you can do so on the VFS Global website before you mail them:
https://www.vfsglobal.co.uk/usa/user_pay_services.html

The VFS site can be glitchy, so I would purchase priority and shipping sooner rather than later, though you will need your GWF application number to do so.

So, your timeline will be:

- research the visa and gather ALL the documents
- print and complete VAF4a Appendix 2
- complete the online application form but don't submit it until you have every single document in your hands and you have double-checked you have everything
- submit the online application, pay for the visa, pay for the IHS surcharge and book biometrics... all online
- purchase priority processing and/or shipping labels from the VFS Global website
- attend the biometrics appointment with your passport, printed biometrics sheet with the barcode on it (and probably your printed online applciation form too)
- place all your documents into the package, including your return shipping label and receipt for priority processing (put this on the top)
- make sure that you have 'Settlement Priority Processing' written clearly in large letters on the outermost packaging
- within 5 days of biometrics, mail the package to Sheffield for processing
- wait for the visa to be processed
- when a decision has been made, your passport and documents will be returned to you in the US
