Can i send supporting evidence from england?
« on: June 05, 2017, 10:52:37 PM »
My wife is attempting to come over from the US to the UK where i am. We have paid the visa fees, the IHS fees and for priority processing. My wife is going to her biometrics appointment this week (scheduled for friday but will go in sooner). We intended for her to mail her passport and completed biometric sheet to me, and then i would send those off with everything else seeing as i have it all with me in the UK. I was just wanting to make sure that it won't be an issue if i send it from here with a pre paid return shipping label back to me in the UK? i will then be traveling back to the US with everything to help my wife come back over.
Application submitted: 30th May 2017
Biometric appointment: 6th June 2017
Documents mailed: 8th June 2017
UK post office tracked Delivery Confirmation: 9th June 2017
Email saying it's arrived in Sheffield: Never received one
Decision email: TBC
Visa Delivered: TBC

She can send you her documents to add to yours before forwarding them on to Sheffield.

However, the documents and visa CANNOT be returned to you in the UK. Because it's an out-of-country application made in the US, the package can only be returned to a US address - the correspondence address that she has put on the online application form.

So, she/you will need to sort out return shipping back to the US before mailing the documents to Sheffield.

You can either purchase a return shipping label from the VFS Global website for $141, then print it and include it in the package, or you can create an online account with UPS or DHL in the US and then include the online account number with the documents so Sheffield can charge the shipping to the account when the visa has been processed.

Good to know. does the shipping label have to be printed on special paper if i get to from VFS global? also the priority process is at around 5 to 6 weeks from receipt in sheffield right?

No, you just print out the label that you are sent by email on normal paper, and place it in the package.

It really depends as priority service timings change all the time... some people here have been waiting more than 7 weeks and still don't have their visas yet, others applied in May and got their visas in 3 weeks because Sheffield finally decided to start clearing the backlog last week and got going on the more recent applications to arrive.

I'd allow up to 2 months for priority to be safe, but it could be quicker than that.

Oh, and make sure that she sends her passport, application forms, biometrics sheet and all her documents to you by courier (UPS, DHL or FedEx) and not through USPS/regular mail.

yes. that is the plan, to have her send them straight after her walk in biometric appointment from a ups or fed ex location by 2 day mail.
Its a bit confusing but for a settlement spouse visa, do you need to include both the VAF4A appendix 2 as well as the VAF4A form? Most threads seem to make it sound like just the appendix 2.

You don't need the VAF4A paper form, what you do need to send is a print out of your completed online application and the appendix 2.
For sending to Sheffield from within the UK, I'd recommend using Special Delivery.

What about the rest of her documents? It's not just her passport and the stamped sheet that need to be included from her.

Normally what happens if you send from England is that the US applicant will prepare the entire application, print the application forms (which may need to be taken to biometrics), put all their documents together in the package ready to mail to Sheffield... then instead of it going directly to Sheffield, they send it to their UK spouse, who adds their documents and then forwards the package to Sheffield.

The applicant usually includes:

Basic Documents
- Printed online application form
- Completed VAF4a Appendix 2 form
- Stamped Biometrics Confirmation Sheet
- Receipt for IHS surcharge payment
- 2 passport photos
- Her current US passport
- All of her previous passports
- Original divorce decree(s) (if she has been married before)
- Signed cover letter and list of package contents
- Proposed flight itinerary
- Receipt for priority processing
- Return shipping labels

Relationship evidence
- boarding passes from trips to see you (if applicable)
- letters/cards you may have sent her since you've been apart
- screenshots of her email inbox showing a selection of dates and subject lines since you've been apart
- screenshots of her Skype/Whatsapp call/message logs showing a selection of dates since you've been apart
- any other relationship evidence she is including... i.e. if you lived together in the US, she will normally be the one including all the evidence of that, since she is in the US - so things like tax returns, house deeds, rental agreements, utility bills covering the time you've been married and living together

Daughter in law sent all her docs from USA to UK and we then mailed them post office special delivery - cost us £25 and saved us one day!
