Thank you so much, Ksand and Vespa lady ;D, you've probably just saved my wife and myself of a lot of heartache, not to mention a lot of money.

No problem :).

I appreciate that the process is different between the US and Thailand - language exam, TB scan, translation of documents (and probably lots more) - but one question if I may - does the 3rd section headed "Spouse / Partner" require my (Spouse/ Sponsor) details as her husband, or a repeat of my wife's (the applicant) from the earlier section headed "Personal Details"?

To be honest, I'm not completely sure, as I haven't actually applied for the visa myself (I'm British) and can't see the online application.  Hopefully someone else who has filled it out can help.

The online form can be a bit ambiguous, though, and I do know that when it gets to the section about Parents' Details, it means your wife's parents (even though it implies the sponsor's parents)... they ask for their details to make sure your wife isn't already a UK citizen through her parents.

Just be careful with filling out the online form too quickly though... it should be one of the LAST things you do when you are completely ready for your wife to attend her appointment and to mail all the supporting documents to Sheffield.

I would concentrate on VAF4a Appendix 2 form first, as that asks all the questions about how you meet the requirements for the spousal visa, and also on making sure you know all the document requirements and you have your documents all ready to go.

Have you worked out which financial category you meet? Do you have all the required documents sorted out for that Category, in the exact format specified by UKVI, with the right number of months covered?
