WOAH You're going to MAKE one?! That's impressive! I would just want one for funsies so definitely wouldn't bother with even trying to make one lol! Maybe if I had my own business making tortillas that would be an awesome idea! Actually, that's a good idea I think, if I lived somewhere with an actual demand for it besides me hahaha!

Before moving here, I sure did tell my husband that if I didn't find a job, I'd be willing to be the taco or tamale lady on base hahahaha! Luckily, I have found a job because I don't think, in the area that we're at, there would be enough demand for it to make a profit.

Yeah, we converted some stables that came with our property to a workshop.  I insisted, and my husband quickly learned to love the space and the toys :) .  We're going to try to make a prototype tortilla press this weekend after we finish up last weekend's electrifying project (installing electrics around the workshop so we won't have to drag the extension lead around to each tool), and I'll post a pic of it here.

I think that if you did make and sell tamales, the demand would come.  Most people here don't want them because they've never had them.  If they knew what they were missing, you'd get demand.

Hi Texas Peach!!!
So nice to have you join this crazy bunch :) you will learn so much and truly a life-saver bunch!

I am also a Texan and grew up surrounded by TexMex foods. I have lived here 3 years and 3 months and have spent quite a bit of £ to get my tex mex fix. I actually posted somewhere about my finds here. For Corn Tortillas, I buy from Cool Chile who are in London, be prepared to pay a bit for them. I buy most of my ingredients there or on Amazon.

Whereabouts are you? I'm in the NorthWest

Cool! What part of Texas are you from?! I live in the south west midlands? is that an area? I live in gloucestershire (ashchurch) lol!

I met someone that lives close to me, also from Texas. We're going to order together from mexgrocer hahaha! If you order more than 2kilos worth of stuff, it's cheaper to do the one day delivery, something like six pounds and change. If you divy it with someone, 3 pounds and change doesn't hurt as much, delivery fee wise!

It's just the 'south west' :P.

You've got the West Midlands (Birmingham area) and the East Midlands (Nottingham area), but they're further north... so Gloucestershire is just classed as part of the South West

We're in Ashchurch, Gloucestershire :)

Thats really close! I will be in the next county over. Warwickshire, village near Stratford-upon-Avon. But I previously spent time in Cheltenham Glous. for a University program exchange. Really close :) planning to join my hubby there before the end of the year.

Larabee I've ordered her tamales and they are great don't get me wrong but I spent £50 for a dozen tamales!!

Texas Peach I grew up in San Antonio then moved to Round Rock where I lived until moving to the UK. I wish I had someone to share my love of TexMex and shipping lol!! So far Cool Chile gives me the best option for corn tortillas.
