applying for ILR early?
« on: December 02, 2004, 05:58:15 PM »
I thought I read on here somewhere that someone had applied for ILR early because they had been here on a work visa before applying for FLR. I was here on a student visa from 9/2001 until I got my FLR in July 2004. I'd love to apply early for ILR as we have been told we could have a hard time getting a mortgage without it - and we'd rather not wait until July 2006 to buy a house.

(of course this house buying thing is assuming I get a job, too!)

Anyone have any ideas?
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Ack! Now I'm paranoid! I didn't mean that I thought I could do a David Blunkett! I could have sworn I read in this forum somewhere that someone had applied for ILR early because the HO actually allows it in certain circumstances.......

Thanks Garry, but that wasn't what I remember. It was definitely because someone has been here on another kind of visa before they got FLR. I think they did it after one year instead of 2.

I'm just gonna have to do a better search on here.  :-\\\\

Ahhh, found it. No wonder I was confused. There were 2 questions going on - one for ILR and one for citizenship.

That seems to answer my question!
