No worries. These things are starting to all be the same -- there are digital content editors in newspapers, B2B publishing, marketing agencies, etc now, though there may be shades of difference in what each represents. But that's what the bullet-point descriptions are for.
If you're comfortable moving into B2B and/or developing a specialism, there are a lot of opportunities (though not sure what the Berkshire scene is like). Of course, it depends on your goals. I do miss elements of my journo/copy desk days, and wouldn't trade them for anything, but there's a whole interesting world beyond the newsroom.
Berkshire not so much. I luckily can easily commute inside the Greater London area, which is where this contractual job is.
And surprisingly, I thought this would be kind of dull, but I was reading some of their articles on the business B2B magazine that I'm uploading content for, and it's a lot more interesting that I thought it would be.
At this point my goals are employment
I like writing and busy newsrooms (done a couple internships/work experiences), but I was also the tech nerd of my course so doing this Adobe/Microsoft editing is kind of right up my alley. Hopefully, this will be some experience that will help boost me the next time I apply for something. Definitely leaving my business card with the editors in case they want someone to do this in the future
And thank you for your advice. It makes my heart lift a bit to hear that people actually do get jobs in this field.
