and you also need to get the baby a UK passport (if you haven’t already).

Don't miss this part that ksand has mentioned. You will need to be able to get your baby back into the UK when you return.

Thanks for the advice.

Just a physical presence evidence question i didn't find worthy of a separate thread...

My wife (USC) has applied for her high school transcripts which will span four years 14-18 years old. She also has her current passport which was valid from 2008.

Is this enough?

Just looked into this today and saw that appointments are open for the next 4 weeks now. Not sure about whether or not the current passport validity will suffice as proof but interested in seeing the answer! :)

Quick question on a related note which might be obvious to some but I'm just wondering how this dual-citizenship stuff works - if the UK/US baby has to travel to/from the US on a US passport but to/from the UK on her UK one... then, do you have to carry both when travelling in order to enter/exit as either one?

Yes, you carry both, and show the one for whichever country you're entering.

Anybody on the evidence above?

We're waiting to send the transcript applications off to the states (firstly to her parents) so need to know prior.

Thanks

Transcripts will be good.  Does she have college ones as well?

She is applying for her high school transcripts. I guess she could apply for her college ones also. Can her passport not be used as evidence or is it a grey area? Also, because I'm in HO mode, if they say 'copy' on would this pose a problem?

It would depend on when her passport was issued (what age) and how long she held it before leaving the USA.

She has held it since 2008 which would mean she held it for 6 years before moving over to the UK

Hi everyone!

Hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year!

We are travelling to USA on June 30th this year for 4th of July and just curious as to when to apply for our baby's passport etc?

From this point we have 6 months. I don't have any idea how long the process takes.

Thanks

Did it last week and got the passports this week, seven days in total, must be a quiet time of year.

I see - thank you!

Can't get an appointment for the next two years haha. The appointment site has absolutely nothing and you try calling and obviously you can't get through to anyone human.

Frustrating

Have you thought about doing it at Edinburgh.  Appointments are usually easier to get and it's probably just as easy to get to for you?  As I said before, it took a week from the date of our appointment for the US passports to arrive.

Sorry if I'm too late with this advice but.....

We got school transcripts etc, they didn't want to see them, all they were bothered about is my US passport as it was my first one issued when I was 16 so that proved it apparently.

It may not be the same for everyone though.
