Budget or Luxury???
« on: November 18, 2004, 07:43:02 AM »

Have posted  this on the 'other site  :P' but I really need a broad prespective. Please help!!!

Right, ok so not too long ago (july) I was working in a gym(shall remain nameless). Almost 5months later I'm thinking of joining another gym. I can't decide which to go for though.
Option 1--- near work, £29per month plus I get 2months free and can use any of the other gyms in the council area ( about 3). They have a pool and do various classes.

Option 2--- a lil farther away (4miles) £57per month, has a pool, steam room, jacuzzi, free-weights, machines (loads w/hundreds of buttons) 150 classes a week. Juice bar and treatment room (get a tan, and your nails done) so it's one stop shop really. It just looks great! The kind of gym you wanna belong to and strut around in.

So you see, I'm not sure.  Oh also, Option1 is a year long contract whereas option2 is month to month, so if anything changes I can just stop, change program.
What do y'all think?? I'm gonna try and join one next week.

Pay for the more expensive one. If you're still in the early phases, then you've got the hardest thing still about working out: getting body to the gym. Once you're there it's much easier. If you have a positive image of the place, it seems enjoyable, then you'll get into the routine. After that, if it's too much, simply down-shift as you say.

See if you can get a one to two week trial to both clubs and then try them out...it'll give you a good perspective on which gym is a better fit!

If it isn't a huge financial strain...I'd probably lean towards number 2 (heck I'd run for it lol).  It's a matter of personal preference tho, and I'd strongly recommend giving both a try (gotta love free trials) and then decide.  :)

Hello everyone! I had my 1st session at the luxury gym!! I decided to go with the nice gym, I mean I AM worth it! Oh it was great!! I had the BEST time! The best workout I've had a really really long time!.  Best of all, I saw my buddy there (Hi girl!!)  You just fee right in there. The staff are great!

I couldn't stay very long, so I bounced out after about 45mins. So I already booked in my 1st really class. Aqua aerobics on tues. All I need now is a swimsuit. I will admit, the 1st 6mins on the elliptical (Cross trainer as they insist on calling it) were really hard! Cause I was going from nothing to full on workout, but I made it the full 10mins then on the to the rower ---how COOL is that machine? I cant fell my abs now! I finished on the treadmill, but it was kidda odd. Dunno, me and the cross trainer rock at the moment!

I'm soo excited, it was well worth it!! I WILL be back!

I had the same option apy to use the Leisure Centre Gyms at £26.00 a month or pay £35.00 a month to join a brand new Gym and Spa.  Guess which I chose.  The Gym has only opened last week.  The spa bit isn't opened yet but hopefully by the end of the week.  The guy who has opened it has spared no expense on the equipment, fixtures, and fittings.  As he is local and it is a private venture I am sure he will take good care of it.

There is also a salon and a treatment room and the prices are very reasonable.

Glad to hear you had a great time.  :)

Would you recommend this gym (or chain of gyms) to us?
