@rdoherty15 - you have the following in your signature:
Unsolicited additional documents: 14 August, 2017
The entire backstory of your case many not be important, but I'm just wondering why & how you sent those. I've realized after submitting my package that a few other documents would be really helpful for my case. Getting those to them prior to a decision would be a good idea. How would I go about doing that? It seemed to work for you!
Hi, happy to help!! I got an email that indicated my application was 'not straightforward'. Normally this is accompanied by a request for additional documents, but I never got that. So after about a week, I asked around on here, and the marvelous experts helped me sort out what I missed in my application. I found an internal email for UKVI and sent them a note, asking if it would be okay to submit additional docs. They said yes, and so I did. The email I used to be in touch is:
VisaSheffield@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk
I never did find out what the issue was; I just took a stab at an educated guess based on the feedback from larrabee, ksand24, and KFdancer. Seems it did the trick!!
