Sort of an Electronics Question...
« on: December 05, 2004, 04:30:04 AM »
Hi! I'm wondering if a US bought Braun men's shaver will work in England. I'm wary of the whole converting voltage thing because I nearly blew up a house or two using some adapter thing from Sharper Image.

The specs say it's got auto worldwide voltage, input voltage from 100 - 240, and a 12V smart plug (whatever that is - for the car or something??)... so that'll work in the UK, right? I'll probably just have to get him a plug adapter or send him to the car to charge it all the time?

Just cheaper to buy it here before moving than over there where it's about $100 more!! I can feel it, I'm going to feel like I'm being ripped off all the time until I start earning pounds and stop converting my dollars!!

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,
Jen

My husband just got a new shaver while we were in the US and it works fine here with my US > UK travel adaptor. His also had on it the wording about being able to handle universal voltage.

If it is rated at 100-240V it should be fine in UK - the domestic supply is 240V, 50 Hz
