renewing passport - do i tell the home office?
« on: December 14, 2017, 01:42:23 PM »
 hi guys

I'm on my second FLRM/BRP. my passport expires in April, and I'm hoping to have it renewed and set to go to france at the end of january. i'm in the uk until then. the usa embassy says 3 weeks for passport renewals (and, as I've only ever had 1 passport, i assume my renewal will be straightforward enough). do i need to update the home office that i've renewed my passport or get a new brp?
Sept '11: premium service same-day tier 4 visa granted in NYC
July '13: tier 4 visa - applied from boston
October '14: FLRM - applied priority in sheffield office
March '17: FLRM 2 - applied priority in sheffield office
Sept 2019: IRL, priority at Croydon, granted same day
October 2019: submitted naturalisation application
January 2020: citizenship approved!
March 2020: last citizenship ceremony before covid :-O

Are you changing your name?

If it's just a replacement passport with no change of details, you'll simply update the passport number on any subsequent applications, plus present your older one.

If you're e.g. changing a name as margo says, you'll need to complete a TOC within 3 months (~£200). We did this a couple of years ago.

nope, no name change. just an update. thanks for the help!

followup: the US Embassy website says it takes 3 weeks for a passport renewal - i'm guessing a little extra because of christmas time, but does 3 weeks seem accurate?
