Question about passport renewal when residence permit is in your old passport

I have to get my US passport renewed and my permanent residence card is in my old passport. My husband is worried that they might lose it or something. I'm going to need to send it in when I apply for UK citizenship soon.

For those that have done this, did you get your old passport back?

Any advice?

Yes, they send the old passport back.  :)
