Cheated out of two weeks on my FLR/BRP
« on: January 28, 2018, 03:27:31 PM »
I have already been in touch with the authorities, but I was wondering if anyone else had experience with errors on their BRP. Here's the story:

I received my BRP on 17 January 2018. My FLR application was approved on 13 January 2018, but my card expires on 30 June 2020. According to my documentation from the Home Office in West Croydon, my visa should be valid for 30 months (or 13 July 2020), but the new card is only valid until 30 June 2020.

While this may not be a major concern, I officially entered the country on 8 July 2015, which means I will not technically fulfil my five-year residency requirement when I go to apply for my ILR in 2020--basically, I'll be two weeks short.

If this isn't a problem and I can apply for my ILR anyway, then everything is fine. Otherwise, I'm not sure what to do. I already contacted the visa & immigration department on 17 Jan 2018 and did not hear anything back (they promise a response within five business days). I sent a second request today, which is 11 days later. Has anyone had success with this type of correction request?

You can apply for ILR from 28 days before your 5 year anniversary in the country so you will still have time.

That is pretty random (28 days!?), but I'm relieved. Thanks for the quick response.

I know, right? I don't understand it myself why they allow that but we're just at that stage and if I have read that instruction once, I've read it 100 times!  ;D

I am still hoping they'll reissue my card with a corrected date, but at least I don't have to panic. I've already put a reminder in my calendar so I can have everything ready. Thanks again!
