I'm just about 1/3 the way through, but so far, I highly recommend "Reasons To Stay Alive" by Matt Haig. It was recently given to me by a friend, and is a memoir written by the author who suffered a severe mental health crisis several years ago. Obviously, it centers around mental health issues and suicide, so be forewarned if these topics are difficult for you.
It's striking a good balance between being frank and honest about how terrible you can feel during the darkest times, while also being optimistic that you can overcome your emotional demons. It's not all doom-and-gloom, but nor is it awkwardly chirpy or disproportionately upbeat. It's casual and easy to read, and at times, has a great sense of humour. It's very eloquent in describing the invisible feelings that can occur in your mind. IMO, this should be required reading at schools.
