When choosing the type of visa it asks date of intended travel.
Is that mean we’re on the wrong app?

No, that's a question on the spouse visa application. They want to know when you want to move to the UK.

You can put a date up to 6 months in the future but you should nominate the earliest date that you could possibly want to travel. If the application takes longer to process, your vignette will be made valid from around the time the decision is made but if you put a date too far ahead, you'll be stuck waiting because you won't be able to move until that date.

The visa4uk website is run by the UK government. It has been the official application site for over a decade.

However, they are in the process of changing from that site to the UKVCAS site for applying for a visa, so if you click on the ‘apply online’ link on the site now, it seems to take you to the new application form.

Hey - when we send off the PHYSICAL stuff to New York

Do we also include copies in the upload? Or does the below just get sent in physical and then we don’t upload any of the below with the online upload link? Thanks

Applicant documents:
- optional contents letter
- priority receipt if using
- return shipping label
- Application print-out
- stamped biometrics appointment sheet
- original passport
- previous passports
- 1 passport photo

Ksand

Sorry one more

It says

What next? - you have 5 days after your appointment to send items to Scanning hub in NY:

Original passport
First page of Visa Application form or checklist (I thought we sent Appendix 2?)
Photocopies of resident card/supporting docs (unless you used self upload) - which I am going to but what is a resident card?

And can you clarify what application docs need to be printed and submitted? Thanks

You don't have a resident card because you are a US citizen... your proof of right to live in the US is your passport.

As far as I know, you physically the following:
- priority receipt if using
- return shipping label
- Application print-out
- Appendix 2
- stamped biometrics appointment sheet
- original passport
- previous passports
- 1 passport photo

and you scan everything else.

I'm not sure if you need to scan copies of the documents you are sending or not.

Do old passports have to be original or copies
