My husband starts his new job on March 26th!  While they wouldn't start him if he kept the week he'd booked off during the first part of May for my ILR appointment, they have agreed to one day off that week, so I can still do that appointment (and book it in and pay before the fee rise in April).

That's very exciting, but that's a bit crap they wouldn't honour his holiday commitments in full. What if you had a trip booked?

Congrats!  What's his opinion on Pineapple pizza?

He is pro (though he's not fanatical about it like I am).  I married a good one.  ;)

They said if he wanted the whole week off, they would have to start him after the holiday, with the next lot of new hires (they're bringing people on board in batches because there's a lengthy training period and they want to do it for lots of people at once).  But we don't know when the next lot will be... we've already waited months for this round, so we didn't want to give it up.  The only reason we booked that week off was for my visa application, so we would have several days of flexibility when I book my appointment.  At his old job, it's really hard to book holiday time off, and it's done at the start of the fiscal year.

But now we'll just book my appointment when the time comes (last week of March), and then let them know which day he needs off that week.  It's not going to be like his old job.  Yay!

Jimbo, my husband thinks pineapple on pizza is [smiley=puke.gif]
Despite him being wrong, I don't think it's a character flaw  ;)

Such fabulous news all around JF!!! So pleased for you both!!!

Time to get a cat to celebrate (he'll get used to it).  Let me know if I need to set a box trap to catch one for you.  I've got Jimbo's ready.  Just need to mail it to him.  PB is after you.

I need to have a beer and a talk with your husband.  At the very least I need to tell him that hot dogs aren't supposed to be floating in anything.

Ohimgosh, yay!  I wish we could get a cat!  I'm looking forward to our new kitchen (still a year away, most likely, as the new job doesn't mean instant render done...).  We're going to make it mouse-proof.  Since we're building it ourselves, we can be sure it's secure.

Phew!  So much relief and joy!

Fixed that for you

Aww...!  You can't take her Sobe cat! ... because I want to steal him!

My husband keeps looking at that jar of American hot dogs in the Tesco American section and I keep telling him NO WAY! NOT ON MY WATCH. Lol.

I suspect he will buy them when I go back to North Carolina in 2 weeks. I can't tell him what to do then.

Buy him a packet of Herta instead, they’re halfway decent!

Yay!! I am glad they are working with you for the ILR appointment date even if they wouldn't give the whole week. We'll have to meet and share a pineapple pizza to celebrate soon!

Are you sure you're not allergic to Pineapple on pizza? I think I am.

Sounds great!  I'm always up for pineapple pizza!

We can make pineapple-free for those with intolerances.  :P

Man... I really can't wait 'til our house and back garden are presentable, so we can actually do proper entertaining.  I'd love to make a bunch of pizza dough and sauce, and just prepare toppings for people to build their own pizzas.  That would be such a fun and tasty party.

And I can't wait to come to such a fun and tasty party.  And I don't give a tiny toss if your house and garden are presentable.  Feed me and I'll want to marry you!   ;D

Wheee!  Some day, I'll host the Welsh UKYankee meetup, and we will all eat the noms.

But my house really does need to be made presentable first, or the food won't seem so appetizing.  Our "kitchen" is a scary thing, and our bathroom is mouldy due to a leak that we can't face trying to track down because the house is already in such disarray that we can't bring ourselves to rip up flooring or open up walls yet.
