Good Morning from Florida, beginning the Spousal process
« on: February 26, 2018, 05:57:31 PM »
Hello all!

My name is Jessie, and I am within the process of getting my paperwork together to join my husband in the UK, hopefully by May!

We met in Nov 2015 while both teaching English in Gimhae, South Korea. We enjoyed living and working there (and some traveling about Asia too!) together for 18 months before ending our contracts to start our next adventure... long distance! I was able to travel with him to his hometown of Preston and meet his family before heading home to sunny Florida. He came to visit and meet my family in December, where we became engaged and legally married.

Now I'm gathering my documents and I am just so anxious. My thoughts are occupied 88% of the time with visa requirements and documents and the lot.

Our goal is to apply at the End of March/first of April and for me to fly over by May 31.
Excited to be a part of the community!

Welcome to the forum, Jessie :).

Feel free to ask any questions you like in the Visas and Citizenship section of the forum - we'll be happy to help. We can also look over your document list to make sure you aren't missing or forgetting anything.

All the best for your plans to arrive in the UK by May 31 (which is my birthday :P).

Processing times can take a while around April/May time, but if you apply using Settlement Priority Processing, hopefully it shouldn't take longer than about 6 weeks.

Oh wow.  I went to Destin once when I was a teen and my memory is over hundreds of dolphins swimming in the waves!  So stunningly beautiful!

I'm from Clearwater/Orlando/Melbourne.  My parents are still in Clearwater.  :)

You know you are leaving paradise, right?  I did not realise this at the time.   ;D

Definitely sad to be leaving paradise. I'm soaking up the sun while I can! Your  memory serves you correctly. Dolphins are abundant ;)

I lived in Cocoa until I was 23, then moved to Connecticut for 5 years,  back to Florida for 5 years, to Ohio for 5 years and then to North Carolina for 5 years.

Is it a coincidence that the visa process to ILR is 5 years? Lmfao.
