Traffic Ticket Question
« on: March 22, 2018, 10:13:05 PM »
I see there is a question regarding offenses on the Spousal Visa application.  I have a traffic ticket from 8 years ago.  I have no documentation of this, does that matter?  I wouldn't even know how to go about documenting it.

The guidance on traffic tickets is a bit hard for me to follow so I included mine on my application, knowing it wouldn't have any impact on the outcome. I went to the Town Court where I went to pay it, and they printed the document that showed it had been reduced to a parking ticket and paid on the date required.

I didn't even realize that traffic tickets counted for this category/completely forgot that I even had one. I had an illegal left turn when I was 19 years old and got it reduced to a non moving violation (parking ticket essentially). I didn't include any of this information since I didn't think of it. I'm sure in all transparency I should have, but it was 12 years ago and I completely forgot.

Thanks everyone!  I figured I should include it because I applied for a visitor visa for the UK and it specifically mentioned traffic violations.  I don't want to appear to be hiding something by mentioning it there and not on this application.

There's no chance I could get to the town where that ticket was issued, but maybe it would show up on my driving record if I could get a copy of that. I just wasn't sure if that is necessary.

Since traffic violations are not actually required on the form, we only advise disclosing them to show honesty and transparency (and also just in case any of them were more serious than you thought).

You don’t really need much documentation of them, so a copy of your driving record should be fine.

Apparently the ticket isn't even on my driving record.   ???

That’s fine - not an issue.

Just declare it on the application form, and provide your driving record to show there’s nothing untoward on it.

It won’t affect the application in any way, so there’s no need to worry about it. I’m actually not sure you even need to provide any documentation for it at all.
