Hi
My fiancé and I are getting married May 1st and have an appointment for FLR(M) application on May 17th.
We booked a short honeymoon in between. I understand the fiancé visa will become invalid once we get married but she’ll still be able to enter the country right on her normal US passport right? Would this impact the FLR(M) application in any way?
Thanks
Not true.
The rules were changed a few months ago and there is now no problem with leaving the U.K. for a honeymoon as long as you can show you intend to apply for FLR(M) after you return.
See:
http://talk.uk-yankee.com/index.php?topic=92491Even before the rules changed, if you left, it wouldn’t necessarily invalidate the fiancé visa (because you must have a valid fiancé visa in order to apply for FLR(M) and so you cannot just enter on your passport because the FLR(M) would then be automatically refused), it’s just that because you weren’t a fiancé anymore, immigration could decide not to let you in, or they might let you in but with a stern warning that you shouldn’t have travelled.
