Medium Dog from TX to Scotland-How it's gone
« on: May 07, 2018, 07:13:34 PM »
Hello!

So, currently, I'm stuck on an unexpected overnight layover in Iceland as someone broke a part off the back of our plane last night. Anyway, that's a story for another day considering what all it's screwed up.

I flew my dog first from Dallas to Dulles Int. to stay with my sister a day or two before heading off across the pond. It cost 200.00 and it was with American Airlines.

They were really nice about it all after getting over the initial grumpiness of having to deal with a dog at 5am haha.

She was left completely fine at the baggage claim and really they seemed to have taken good care of her but it was a short flight.

Next we were flying the first leg of our trip to Paris from Dulles. It cost 174.00 with Iceland air. They actually did not weigh her, but I wonder if it's because I gave her weight when I made the reservation on the phone. They were very good about getting her sorted and it was barely an effort for me.

She did have to sit on the plane a while but she was fine, and didn't seem phased when we finally made it to Iceland. They actually were amazing at this part. They brought her off the plane and let my daughter and I into a zone where she's kept, just so we could be there when they brought her inside, and they helped me fix up her kennel and get her food and water before I had to go deal with my baggage.

I'll let you all know how the next leg goes and the taxi service after it

We got to visit her at the airport before going to the hotel and before our flight and in fact when we were boarding, our tickets came up as unable to board until they gave us the update on our dog being loaded on the plane :)

However...my dumb A dog made a run for it at a train station in England and made me miss a train X'DDD

But she was fine on the flights and on the trains once  I was able to catch her lol

Here's a breakdown on my costs

Vet: 112.00 for the appointment to have the health certificate done
38.00 for the endorsement of the certificate
37.00 for the deworming (vet did not charge us a visit fee :)))
200.00 Flight from Dallas to Dulles
174.00 Flight from DC to Paris

563.00 Pounds for Folkestone cab company, Paris to Folkestone

Overall I do not regret doing it myself at all!

If anyone has questions on it all, please feel free to ask!
