Thinking of buying a tablet

Ok, the only thing I would use it for is video GP consultations (for daughter's health insurance) and ...possibly... the depost-the-checks-over-the-internet thing.  I have 75 pounds in John Lewis vouchers.  They have this on offer for just a bit less than that, with a 2 year warranty. So, for me, basically it would be free.

Apparently to use the video GP one downloads an 'app' and installs it. What do I need to know to know if the 'app' will run on the Lenovo?

It's slow, I mean really slow - over 20 seconds to open 1 App. I even purchased a SD card to help, but nothing improved the device. Don't bother.
It's battery completely dies after only a few hours and after no use!!
I returned it following an irritating complaint. It is useless and is not the Tablet reviewed by a UK broadsheet newspaper 2018.

£10 cheaper from Argos plus a lot more reviews (84) and many of them positive.

It looks like this runs android 7.0, so you'd want to be sure the doctor's app is compatible with that.

The Daughter says I should "wait for a better sale" but I don't see that JL would put them on much cheaper than they are now. And she wants me to get a blender so she can have smoothies instead. However....

I'd give you a really good deal on our old ipad that is sitting around.  I think it's the first one with the nice screen and has a decent amount of storage.  It's even got a slot for a sim card, so for £5 a month you can use the Internet anywhere. 

Personally, I  believe that the Apple OS is far superior to android on a tablet.  Cheap tablets suck no matter what

It is noisy as hell, and both Lenovo and John Lewis blew me off about it. finally said I could send it for service, but if they ffind nothing wrong I have to pay for the return, even in the warranty period.

And where is the service center??? GERMANY!! No service centers for Lenovo in the UK. None, nada....and you do not find out until after you buy.

Not related at all but husband went to see the Lenovo factory in China as part of his MBA class. He said the floor in some parts of the factory where they assembled the components were just packed soil. Sweat shop.

That's sad. I had an IBM thinkpad from just after they were bought out by lenovo and that was a TANK. It lasted so long, and survived my cat dumping a full cup of tea on it. There was tea pouring out of the USB ports. I pulled the battery immediately and dried it as much as I could, and then left it in a bag of rice for a few days. But still... It ran for another 5 years after that!

DH says you'd struggle to find a decent tablet for £75 that will do what you want. A cheap tablet with be slow and not worth it for what you want to do.

If your daughter's got a blender in mind for the voucher, get that and either make do without a tablet, set aside some extra money to buy a better tablet or wait until holiday sales.

Or, if you really don't want to buy anything but want to put the voucher to use, see if you can buy smaller value vouchers with your £75 voucher (like three £25 gift cards) and give them as gifts.

Ah. Well, no Lenovo then. I'll wait.

The only thing I really would use it for is the GP and maybe like two checks a year to BofA (both of which are good with Android 7.0). Otherwise it's going to sit in a closet.  If we find a really cheap flight back to the States this winter, we may make a run back to finish up some unfinished business in Calif. If so, I'll pop into the University's "surplus sales" building and see what they have. I got my nice laptop for $125 and it's working perfectly for us. (Windows 7, an old Dell) They may have a tablet - their stock rolls over constantly. But it will have to be a really cheap flight, as the cost of hotels, etc., there will be probably more than the flight costs. And we need to do it and be back before Brexit. I do not want to be on the evening news as one of those passengers stranded in an airport due to the general travel chaos. Or have the Daughter's entry documents not work.

I do have three 25pound gift cards, but nobody to give them to, actually, other than the Daughter. And these were for ~my~ inconvenience, so I think I'll spend them on something ~I~ want.    JL has a swimsuit I like. And I've been thinking of joining the Glasgow Club, as they have a nice indoor swimming pool not far from us that has "women only" hours for the pool and the gym as well. So I'll need a swimsuit. (The one I brought is like 10 years old and looks like a rubber band on a walrus.)
