I wouldn't worry about that too much now.

* Speak to UKVI and try and delay your appointment until after you take the test
* Book the test ASAP. Even if you have to go to NI for a day it may be worth it.

If you continue the application without it I am not sure what will happen but most likely they will just grant you another 2.5 years of FLR and you will then have to apply for IRL a second time and incur all the application fee costs again.

I agree with this.  Don't get bogged down on what you thought.  Just focus on how you can try to fix this now.  Keep checking all of the test centres near you for cancellations to try to get in sooner, and try to delay your application.

If you do get in to take the test reasonably soon, you'll get your pass certificate immediately, but it won't show up in their computer system for up to 48 hours.  I don't know how that delay will affect things.  But all you can do is try.

Have you already studied for the test?   Keep studying!  Be ready for it.

So the UKVI phone system just tells me that since the application has been submitted that I can't talk to someone and I have to wait to be contacted if there is a problem, I guess I should just get the test passed and wait for them to get in contact to ask for it?

Yeah, you have to pass the test, regardless (as it’s needed for citizenship too), and the sooner you can take and pass it, the better. So, I’d focus on getting the test done as soon as you can.

Finally got through to an advisor, they said to either wait to be contacted or send a letter explaining the certificates absence and hope for the best. I really wish the application document checklist had been more direct about listing the test results as a mandatory doc, I had until March 19th to submit through UKVCAS so had plenty of time to book the test before submission.

The good news is that if the application is refused, you have plenty of time to reapply before your visa expires.  Meaning you won't have to return to the USA and start the 5 year clock over again.

The bad news is that if you are unable to get the pass certificate to them and have it accepted, you'll have to pay the application fee again.   :-\\\\

Big hugs.  Have you now booked the test?   ;)

Yes I've booked the test and put a letter into the mail to UKVI informing them of the situation which will hopefully be attached to my case. I'm not sure what the standard deadline is when a case worker requires additional documents, but hopefully it will be some time after the Feb 4th.

Just be sure that the item of mail you bring to verify your address, *exactly* matches the name on the ID that you booked the test with. They turn people away if it does not.

And do study the book and take practice tests until you are consistently passing them easily.

Good luck with the test and please keep us posted!  :)

Hi there - I hope everything going well with studying for the test.

I think there are a few kinks to be worked out with the new online application. I am applying for limited leave to enter and the Life of the UK is a section on my application (when it should not be). My plan it to write in the note section that per the guidance, LLE applicants are not required to take the Life in the UK test. I am hoping that will be enough and that my check in the "no" box will not automatically fail my application.
Applied from: Florida, US
Priority: Yes
Online application submitted: Jan 25 2019
Biometrics & docs mailed: Jan 29 2019
Documents received in NY: Jan 30, 2019
Documents received by Sheffield on: Mar 4, 2019
Case Escalated: Mar 20, 2019
Case Escalated again: Mar 27, 2019
Decision Made Email: Apr 3, 2019
Received Passport: Apr 4, 2019
YES!
