Green Card-- Marriage interview questions
« on: March 25, 2014, 08:56:46 PM »
My DH  is in the process of obtaining his  green card  through  spousal  visa.. He  has been at his transferred job for about 4 years.. We have been married  almost  10 years  and  have two children.. We  are waiting  for  our interview  to see and prove  if our marriage is a fraud.. I was just wondering if anyone has gone through this interview  process.  I am kind of nervous because I have no idea how  intimate  the questions can be,.. I have been  on  some sites that give sample  questions  and  some are just  too funny.. Also  do they want to  trip you up?  or is  it just  a formality?     just wondering if anyone  has done this  and what was it like.. Thanks in advance..

I don't know what it is like now, but hubby's first time around was a breeze. We were asked very few questions, and submitted very few pictures. Neither of us really like having our pictures taken, and the man doing the interview was satisfied with the few we submitted.

Then we decided to move to the UK a few years later, so when we came back to the US, we had to go through the process again. The second time, we did DCF, but I eded up coming back to the US before it was all over, due to a glitch in his medical requiring a TB test, which came back clear, but in the meantime they 'lost' one of his samples halfway through testing... anyway... long story short, that time he was on his own for the interview, and it was a breeze that time too.

I won't say they would never ask the deep dark questions, but I would guess they can sense honesty and would only bring out the big guns if they felt it was necessary.

Hi,

My husband  has his interview tomorrow and is really stressed out so I’m trying to reassure him with positive stories from other people’s experiences. May I ask how it went for yours, several years ago now?

You might want to try a FB group or forum specifically geared towards Brits moving to the US as you might find more stories that will be useful to you vs on this forum (as this forum is mainly for Americans who have moved to the UK and their partners (but there are a few who who have done both moves and can advise - as you've already seen). Just suggesting as it might be worth it to get a variety of experiences (especially in whichever particular state you're looking to move to).
My, how time flies....

* Married in the US and applied for first spousal visa August 2013
* Moved to the UK on said visa October 2013
* FLR(M) applied for  May 2016. Biometrics requested June 2016. Approval given July 2016.
* ILR applied for January 2019 (using priority processing). Approved February 2019.
* Citizenship applied for May  2019
* Citizenship approved on July 4th 2019
* Ceremony conducted on August 28th 2019

Two friends of mine have had their husbands get their green cards this past year.  They were all nervous for the interview but were fine.

They just want to know you aren’t a terrorist And\or it’s not a sham marriage.
