Ever wondered what happens if you drive off and forget to pay for petrol?

They call the cops, and then the cops call you.  They start off asking a bunch of vague questions until you are thinking "What the hell did I do?  I'm going to stop answering questions and lawyer up" 

Then they just ask you to go pay for the petrol and then everything is fine again. 

I’m surprised the cops called you.  I forgot once but remembered before I got home.  The chick was sooooo grateful that I came back.  I suspect half of drive offs are simple forgetfulness!

Hubby got petrol and paid and then drove off.  He didn't know the card machine thingy wasn't working.  The Police were very nice and chatty - and checked his date of birth etc.  When he went back and paid he was told the card machine thingy hadn't been working for a while. Apparently everyone knew about it but him.

It happens.
