ILR Questions
« on: August 08, 2018, 12:59:16 PM »
Hi All - applying for ILR after completing 2 2.5 year spousal visas.  Have done Premium Service for both of those but going postal submission this time.

A few questions at the moment, if anyone can help;

1) we have a son (18 months) who was born here so it a British Citizen. Do I mention him in the app considering he doesn’t need to apply?

2) anyone done a postal submission yet and can advise on wait time for approval?  It says up to six months online...

3) my hubs needs his passport for a business trip in November.  Have I read correctly that I can just send photo copies of his??

I think I’ve got other questions too but I can’t remember them.  I’m genuinely stressing about getting it done this time.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Honestly, we suggest postal for the FLR(M)'s and in person for ILR, but it is a personal choice.

Our most recent postal app was approved right at 4 months, so that's good.  But they CAN take up to 6 months.

Yes, you can send a photocopy of your husband's passport.  It needs to be a copy of every single page, which is a bit overkill, but that's what they require.

For your child, they have changed this slightly.  You now need to include a letter addressed to your child at your address within the last 90 days before your application date to prove they live with you.  If your child has not received any mail, you can include a letter from your GP confirming the child's registered address.  They will likely charge a fee for this.

Why do you recommend Premium service for ILR?

Re: Child
I don’t need to fill in section 2C as he is not applying for a visa but do I need to fill out Section 3?  The wording is confusing as I’m not sure if they mean any children under 18 or children under 18 who are applying for ILR.

Also, for the financial requirement is it “applying with no child dependant” or “applying with one child dependent”?

Also - what are your thoughts on the Settlement Checking Service?

Because by the time 5 years is up, most people would do anything (read pay for the in-person appointment) just to be finally done.

If the child is a UKC, it'll be £18,600. No dependants.

Ah!  Thank you. That’s makes sense, really, just wanting to get it done.  I think we may do the Settlement Checking Service to at least be sure at the correct papers and details are there.

Having reread the application I now see it’s only £18,600. Just didn’t want to tick the wrong box!  But do I fill out Section 3?
