SET(M) Documents Check
« on: August 01, 2018, 08:48:40 PM »
Hi all,

Hoping someone could give this a once over to make sure I have everything I need? I'm going to Croydon in person on Saturday.

FINANCIAL EVIDENCE (Category B)
Payslips August 2017-March 2018 from husband's previous employer
Payslips March 2018-July 2018 from husband's current employer
Letters on letterheaded paper from both employers confirming authenticity of payslips
Bank statements August 2017-July 2018 (they don't show the income from the July 2018 payslip but that bank statement doesn't exist yet, I assume this is OK?)

COHABITATION EVIDENCE
Aug 2016-Nov 2016 - Letter from housing association (both names)
Dec 2016-March 2017 - Letter from housing association (both names)
April 2017-July 2017 - bank statement (his name), letter from HMRC (my name)
Aug 2017-Nov 2017 - water bill (his name), bank statement (my name)
Dec 2017-March 2018 - water bill (his name), letter from pension company (my name)
April 2018-July 2018 - Letter from Scottish Widows (his name), payslip (my name)

OTHER DOCUMENTS

Application
My current passport
My old passport (with initial visa)
My current BRP
My husband's passport
Marriage certificate
LIUK pass certificate
Photos (2 of me, 1 of him)

NOT SURE IF I NEED:
Evidence that my husband owns the flat? We're on the shared ownership scheme.
Letter from a friend saying we lived with him from September 2016-January 2017...we're technically covered for this period but I did put in the application that we lived at this address and I don't have any evidence?
P60s?

Thanks in advance!

P60s?

Thanks in advance!

Do you cover the entire year with the financial evidence? You DO need to show the last deposit into the bank account. Go into the branch and have them print a partial statement for you or print it yourself and have them stamp it.
You are missing and do need the employers letter which gives details of the employment.

What are the months (as opposed to the range) for the correspondence?

You do need the proof of ownership for your accommodation evidence. I don't know what the shared ownership scheme is but you need evidence that you are permitted to live in the property so if someone else owns some of it, you will need permission from them too.
Include the P60's
Names should be on the back of the photos
Include your receipts for payment of the application and the in-person appointment.

OK we have this now. They didn't stamp it but it has a little timestamped mark that says it was printed at the branch, hopefully that will do?

That info is included in the letters confirming the authenticity of the pay slips so I think that should be fine.

What are the months (as opposed to the range) for the correspondence?
Why, are they timing it to the minute now? Anyway:
Aug 2016 - Letter from housing association (both names)
Letter from friend confirming we lived with him September 2016-Jan 2017
January 2017 - Letter from housing association (both names)
April/May 2017 - bank statement (his name), June 2017 letter from HMRC (my name)
Aug 2017 - water bill (his name), September 2017 -bank statement (my name)
February 2018 - water bill (his name), February 2018 - letter from pension company (my name)
July 2018 - Letter from Scottish Widows (his name), June 2018 - payslip (my name

We have a mortgage statement and a copy of the deed, will that do?

Include the P60's
Apparently we don't have this since the (few days) gap between my husband's last job and his current job was over 6th April. We have the P45 from his previous job and both employment contracts.

Why, are they timing it to the minute now? Not quite, but the items should be spaced evenly throughout the whole time since the last grant of leave to remain.   :) Anyway:
Aug 2016 - Letter from housing association (both names)
Letter from friend confirming we lived with him September 2016-Jan 2017
January 2017 - Letter from housing association (both names)
April/May 2017 - bank statement (his name), June 2017 letter from HMRC (my name)
Aug 2017 - water bill (his name), September 2017 -bank statement (my name)
February 2018 - water bill (his name), February 2018 - letter from pension company (my name)
July 2018 - Letter from Scottish Widows (his name), June 2018 - payslip (my name

Ideally they would be more evenly spaced and the single items would both be for the same month.

You do need the proof of ownership for your accommodation evidence. I don't know what the shared ownership scheme is but you need evidence that you are permitted to live in the property so if someone else owns some of it, you will need permission from them too.
We have a mortgage statement and a copy of the deed, will that do? As I said, I don't know what the shared ownership means but if another party owns part of the property, you would also need a letter of permission from them for you to live there.

Include the P60's

Just wondering, Larrabee, the Set M form does not mention that correspondence should cover the past two years. It says
'Documents addressed to you and your partner at the same address as evidence that you have been living together continuously since your last grant of leave in this category. See Note 8. So shouldn’t it be spread over two and a half years which would mean something for every five months?  Or do we need to be that precise?
Married 1966, left UK 1969, returned 1998, left again 2000, returned June 2014 (husband on spousal visa) granted FLR(M) November 30th 2016  and ILR on  24th May, 2019. Yeah!

Oh, good point! For ours, I actually didn't want to go less than every 4 months so I did the 4 month spacing and included extra documents but I think it has been suggested before to use 5 months, now you have reminded me, thanks!  :) I've edited my earlier reply.

Ah, yes - it used to be 2 years for both FLR(M) and ILR. Now it's a maximum of 2 years for FLR(M) and 'since your last grant of leave' for ILR... so for ILR it's 6 documents each, spread every 5 months
