From Biometrics to sending documents
« on: August 01, 2018, 11:17:34 PM »
Hi everyone,

Hope somebody can shed some clarity on the timeframe between undergoing the biometrics appointment and shipping the application with supporting documentation.

Currently my wife has been informed she has 5 days, 10 days or 14 days in which to ship the documents, from various sources.

It would make a huge difference as we had planned to accumulate a couple more documents before sending them in, but a 5 day timeframe would be too tight.

Anyone any thoughts?

Thanks.

It’s a 5 day timeframe. The email you receive with your biometrics appointment states otherwise, but it’s on the UK website here, on step 3: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/usa-apply-for-a-uk-visa/apply-for-a-uk-visa-in-the-usa

If the timeframe is too tight to send the additional documents, you can always reschedule the biometric appointment on the Visa4UK website (provided she hasn’t already had it).
FLR(M) Timeline:
Application type: Spouse settlement visa extension (super priority)
BRP expiration: Late May 2021
Online application submitted: April 14, 2021
Biometrics appointment: April 25, 2021
Decision made: April 26, 2021 - emailed at 1:40 pm

Chris, would you like to show us the list of what you plan to include with your application (along with the relevant background information) so we can let you know if you are missing anything?

Hi,

As people have said, it is 5 calendar days from date of bio metrics as shown on the website. However, I don't think they're too strict on the timelines. My wife was told that she had 10 days. Even after she showed them the information on the website, they were adamant that it was 10 days. Clearly a big discrepancy there. This is probably one of the reasons that they're lenient with regards to the dates. We submitted our documents 13 days from date of bio metrics as my wife managed to do an earlier walk in appointment, while still waiting for documents from me. I would say , don't worry about it too much, just make sure that your documents are in order.

I'm afraid I disagree with this slightly.  It is really important to NOT submit the application until you have every single document in hand.  We've seen so many delays with couriers and documents sometimes take longer to arrive than one thinks.  Or something is missing.

I agree . The only reason we did it , is because the way my bank statements and pay slips workout , it would not have been possible to have everything in hand and comply with the 28 day rule . And I think that would be an automatic refusal when compared to sending in the application a week later or so .

In that case, you have the bank provide (or print and have them stamp)  a partial statement covering the deposit of the last pay cheque.

My bank straight up refused it . I even made an official complaint but they were completely unhelpful with this !

Trying another branch, that usually works, preferably in a smaller town.

And change your bank. You've got 5 more years of this coming!  :)

ETA sorry, I thought you were the OP. But change your bank anyway!  :)

Does not help when the bank is a digital bank without a single physical branch . Once this application is approved , the plan is to switch my pay check deposits to one of my other bank accounts . Already changed all the statements to paper ones ! Learning from our current mistakes

OK, I remember, no that doesn't help! But glad you're getting it sorted going forward!    :)
