Confused about VFS and UPS
« on: August 04, 2018, 07:51:43 PM »
We're somewhat confused about the relationship between VFS and UPS and need someone to help clarify it please.

We've paid for the roundtrip VFS service (along with paying for Priority) and printed out the labels. On Tuesday, my husband has his biometric appointment and we plan on mailing the entire package Tuesday night or Wednesday.

So how does UPS fit in? We realise we need to send it FROM a UPS office but one of the places we stopped into, had no idea what VFS was or what to do with us.

Do we need to pay again (heaven forbid) for UPS? Does the VFS cost cover the shipping cost? Any feedback is really appreciated.

What VFS global has sold you is just pre-paid UPS shipping. All you have to do is take the package to a UPS store and they will physically send it for you. No more money to pay.

And be sure to remember to mark the outside of your package in large, bold writing on all sides "Settlement Priority Processing" and place the priority receipt on top of the pile.

VFS Global are one of UKVI's commercial partners. They have made an arrangement with UPS to offer pre-paid, fixed price shipping labels for visa applications to Sheffield and New York City. It is actually not possible to arrange an international return label through UPS themselves, so the return label offered by VFS Global is a special label only available to people applying for a visa through Sheffield.

As they are UPS labels, if you purchase the round-trip service, you have to take your printed label and documents to a UPS store to get an envelope from UPS to mail everything in. All the instructions for this are on the VFS Global website. You also place the printed return label in the package.

If you have purchased Settlement Priority Processing from VFS Global as well, you must print the receipt and place it on the very top of your documents, then once you have the UPS envelope, you write SETTLEMENT PRIORITY SERVICE in very large letters on the outside of the envelope before you mail it. Again, these instructions are on the VFS website.

So, the only involvement you will have with UPS is taking your documents and shipping label to their store, putting it all in one of their envelopes and handing it over to them to mail.

Everything is paid for through the VFS Global website.

I paid the $256 fee for the Sheffield Round Trip. I already had my labels printed, so when I went to UPS they didn't have to weigh it or anything. However, the UPS store I went to was within a hotel (I was in New Orleans at the time) and they charged me a very small $5 (mailing fee) type thing which is fine. You MIGHT encounter something small like that but no more big charges. You pay the big charge when you use the VFS website :)

Good luck!
