Atlanta to County Durham (Soon to be at least)

Hi!  I love this forum and I am so grateful to have found it.  I am in the middle of awaiting the settlement visa (about 40 business days in).  I've posted a few times on the immigration threads but thought I would properly introduce myself!  Just a bit about myself and my family...My husband is a Brit from Leicestershire originally but he currently lives in County Durham (small village outside Durham).  He has two sons from a previous relationship.  We met in late 2016 and married fairly quickly in Greece in August 2017.  I have a daughter who is in her first year at college in New Hampshire (being away from her will be a killer!!).

The past few months have been trying as we await the visa.  Luckily my husband has been really patient dealing with all the frustrations of living apart.   
I have sold my house, my possessions have all been shipped and my dogs have even moved over.  I know it will happen but feels like it is just dragging on!

Is there anyone on the forum in the Northeast?  I feel like I see a of of South Coast and London on here!

I travel to Durham for work sometimes. The train ride in is a beautiful site with the cathedral. I hope your move goes well!!

Welcome to the site. I grew up in a small town not far from Durham City, and now live in the NE in a small town just south of Middlesbrough, after spending 29 years in Texas and Louisiana.

I also lived in Leicestershire for over 5 years.

I travel to Durham for work sometimes. The train ride in is a beautiful site with the cathedral. I hope your move goes well!!

Thank you!  I’m just so ready to be settled. Texas and Louisiana are slightly different from the the north east!

Hi Atlanta....im just starting my Fiancee Visa application and will send it all (hopefully) next month.. I am in Texas and will be moving to Lancashire once all is done... first of all congrats!!
I lived in Atlanta years ago and its a beautiful city... That said, i understand about your daughter, I have a grown daughter I will be leaving behind and while I have her blessings, my heart hurts to leave her..
If i may ask, did you go thru gov.uk to do your application and did you have to go to a biometric appointment and if so did you make the appointment or did it get set for you, I am so very confused.
