Submitted! forgot middle name?
« on: September 26, 2018, 05:22:46 PM »
So i really hope this isnt an issue, but my fiance just realized that she did not put her middle name on the application! It doesn't ask for it but i believe her passport does have her middle name on it ( although that is literally the only document that does.)

will this be an issue? I really hope we wont get denied over this.

is there something we can do ?

also her Biometrics sheet is telling her to mail her documents to new york? shouldnt it be going to sheffield?

Has she sent the package already? If she has not then she can just add the middle name in pen on the application forms.

It appears they have literally just changed things in the last week or so and apparently documents must now be sent to New York where they will be scanned and forwarded to Sheffield electronically,

The Apply in the USA page now only mentions mailing documents to New York (before Sept 14th it said settlement applications had to go to Sheffield directly):

no, she has not. She has biometrics next week, should she edit it on the biometrics receipt as well? we just called the hotline and they said that we need to cancel the application.

so we just need to write her middle name next to her given name on the printed online application?

In the past, people have just asked the biometrics staff to change the name in their computer system so that it matches their passport.

For a while there was a bug in the online form where it would list your name as:
First Name, Maiden Name, Married Name
So tons of people had to get it corrected at their biometrics appointment.

Yep, just correct it in pen on the printed application :).

I don't think it will ever just ask for first and last name without there being a place for the middle name also.

i think because it didnt specifically ask that she got confused, there was never anything that said given and middle name or just middle. from my understanding your given name is usually just the first name. As long as they correct it, its fine by us!

Also when we were on the phone with the visa hotline they mentioned that she needed to submit 2 passport photos? i thought it was only one.

It should say something like:
‘Give your name exactly as listed in your passport’

It is only 1 passport photo. In fact, you probably don’t need any at all anymore, since they use the photo from your biometrics and just send back your passport photo anyway.

The visa hotline is notorious for giving bad and very incorrect advice, so I wouldn’t trust what they tell you at all.

Only settlement visa applications for FLR(M) and ILR made in the UK require 2 passport photos.

Why do you think your application is complicated?

I always recommend paying priority, regardless, because priority skips much of the waiting line, even before anyone knows your application is complicated, so it can potentially reduce your waiting time by half.

As larrabee asked, what makes your application complicated?

A complicated application is only one where:
- the applicant has serious criminal convictions
- the applicant has a history of illegal working or overstaying in the U.K.
- the applicant has several previous refused visas or entries to the UK

If none of those apply, you do not have a complicated application.

i guess the application is not complicated then! ;D

i only said that because i have a little bit of time off included so im not submitting the usual amount of payslips and bank statements, so more than 12.

That doesn’t make it complicated though, because the financial requirement document allows for that situation and tells you exactly what to do if that’s the case :).

If you want to elaborate on that, we can help ease your worries.  Was it Statuatory Sick or Paternity/Maternity leave?
