ILR Passport question
« on: August 27, 2018, 09:45:08 AM »
I appreciate everyone’s thoughts in advance. In 2016 after my flr(m) application I obtained a  new Mexican passport (I am a dual citizen by birth) as I was told that if I entered Mexico, I needed to do it on a Mexican passport. On all of my visa applications, I have told them that I am a dual citizen by birth. My question is, for ILR, do I now submit that passport in conjunction with my US passport, or do I just mention it? In view of the same day appointments going away (in this case I would mention it but have it on hand if they asked) I am not sure how to proceed. Thanks again for any advice.

Sorry for not replying sooner - I was on a night shift last night, sleeping this morning, and I also think I'm coming down with a cold :(.

You should send:
- current US passport
- any previous US passports if you have renewed them since arriving in the UK
- any other passports you have used to travel to the UK in the last 5 years

The guidance on the application form states:

You should provide all previous passports, travel documents or national identity cards that you have used
to travel to or remain in the UK.

Now, for other visas (fiance/spousal etc.), you have to provide ALL passports you have ever held, from any country, but the SET(M) form is a little ambiguous as it mentions passports you have used to travel to or remain in the UK, and not all passports.

So I'm not sure if you're supposed to include the Mexican passport or not.

I read that and thought the same thing. I never used my Mexican passport to travel to the UK not remain in the UK. I only ever used it to travel to Mexico. So I am not sure either. I guess if the same day appt is still around I’ll mention and take it but it any other form I’ll just include it. I know they err on the side of refusal. Thank you and feel better!
