Emails from sheffield
« on: October 18, 2018, 01:21:40 PM »
So I still have not received an email stating that they have my application, which is fine.

When would I get the not straightforward email if they would send that? I’m hoping to get some kind of email soon..

Non-straightforward emails are usually sent around the 60-working-day mark though I think some priority applications have received them at around 30 working days.

Usually the non-straightforward email is either sent if they are so busy they know they won't process your application within the 12-week deadline (so they can buy themselves some time), or if you have children (either UK or non-UK) and they decide to look into Article 8 in relation to the application.

Did your application go to New York under the new procedures?

If so, we don't know how long the emails are taking now (some people have waited 2-3 weeks for their email when submitting using the $1900 Premium Service), or if Sheffield are still even sending emails at all (since your application will have already been logged in New York).

It went to New York!

And we do have a UK son, which is why we might get the non straight forward.

Ugh I was hoping for some kind of email soon. Does the 12 week deadline include weekends too?

We paid the 800$ priority, I’m not sure which is the 1700$

It’s 60 working days, which is 12 x 5 days, so 12 weeks total.

Their processing targets for settlement visas are:
- 95% processed in 12 weeks (60 working days)
- 100% processed in 24 weeks (120 working days)

If you do get the non-straightforward email though, then all bets are off and they don’t have to adhere to the 12-week deadline.

Having a UKC child will NOT produce the not-straight-forward email.  It's when the child needs a visa to move to the UK that the email is (usually) produced.

Yeah... escalations don't mean anything.  Just something they say to make you think they've done something...

It only takes a maximum of 2 hours to process an application.  So unfortunately, it has likely been sitting around - which is good.  You don't want an application to have been worked on and still not heard.  As that means something is missing or not quite right.  :)
