Passport Photo Requirements
« on: September 03, 2018, 10:09:30 PM »
Hi everyone...needing to find a place that can take our photos for our UK passports, but in the US. Where did you get your photos taken that are the 45mmx35mm requirement???

Thanks!

Is it for a UK passport or for a UK visa application?

If it's for a visa application, you can just use US-sized passport photos... they don't actually use the photo you send anyway, so it doesn't matter what size it is.

If it's for a UK passport application, then I believe you can get UK-size photos taken at somewhere like Walgreens. Or there are websites that I think you can upload a photo to and they will print them UK size for you.

I believe Walgreens has gone up to about $15 per set of passport photos.

We also used Walgreens, fortunately we only needed 1 set at a time as mine and my wife's UK passports expire in different years.

Now that we are in the UK we need US passports renewing and found that Sainsburys has a machine that does US Visa passports which are the same size as needed for US passports. I certainly hope they are because our passports are currently in the US Embassy being processed. They cost £8 each set which I suppose is about $11. (UK Passport size costs £6)

I got mine at Walgreens in 2012.  Was about $5, I think?  The woman at the photo counter just snapped my picture using a digital camera, printed it the right size and handed it to me.  Cheap and easy.

I worked at Walgreens in 2013. Passport photos were about $7.99 then. You could get them for $5.99 with a coupon sometimes. Now they are up to $15ish. I just ordered some photo projects from Walgreens for my daughter's birthday and I'm sure that was the advertised price now.

And yes, that is all we did. Take a photo with a digital camera and print it through the kiosk. It was 98% profit at that time.

I think the nice ladies gave me the coupon price.  I don't remember paying too much for the service.  (Actually, the service was super friendly and fun, and the photo turned out better than I think I look... I should've tipped.)
