I mean... in practice my employer is not actually discriminating against my marital status but it still kind of tastes like it.

Perhaps that's because lots do it when they find they won't be able to stay in the UK when their visa expires? It's the easiest visa to get, plus no RLMT is required for a job and there is no minimum salary for you to earn.  You wouldn''t be tied to your employer either.

What about the new civil partnership route for mixed sex couples?  Then you won’t be married.   ;D

You guys can both go to a third country and teach English and have fun for a bit.  I think there's still countries where you can just show up.

Also, consider working at a summer camp together in the us
