Importing a car from France
« on: December 18, 2004, 07:05:21 PM »
I'm wondering if it's possible for us to buy a car in France and move it to the UK with us. Has anyone got any helpful links or information about possible restrictions, regulations or whatever???

Looking forward to hearing your pearls of wisdom

Yes, it is ... but remember that in France they drive on the right and in the UK on the left, so you'll need a special model ... and at times the manufacturers don't like to supply Right Hand Drive cars through Continental dealers, as there profit margins there are lower.

There used to be quite a big business in buying cars for UK use in Belgium - cheapest in Europe - and importing them to the UK. I did a very quick search and found http://www.fordbrugge.com/export.htm - perhaps not the manufacturer of your choice, but a site that may help give you some ideas.
