London's Best Commuter Hotspots interactive map

I came across this today and thought it was really interesting. Would be interested to see how accurate it is from people who actual live in these areas.

I like that you can alter the search results by average commute length and season ticket cost, etc. I know the trains have been horrible lately, I've been reading the articles, but I'm guessing this gives an estimated length.

I would take estimates with a grain of salt... I've had to pick up my husband in the next town over numerous times due to train issues on his way home, and he only goes into London one day a week. :(

It's bollocks for the few places I know.  For my home train station it says 51 minutes when it's every bit of an hour and a half to two hours.  Says the cost of an annual ticket is £3812/year when the cheapest ticket is £4464/year.

Good to know. Thanks. I've assembled my own Excel spreadsheet based off prices from https://www.thetrainline.com/season-tickets  and times based off Google Maps. I usually adjust the time for something like Monday mornings and the times tend to reflect what most peoples real-life experiences are, not based off what optimistic times the train companies say.

I wonder if there is a train app similar to Waze (which uses real peoples driving times calculated off GPS tracking). Not sure if Google Maps does that same to come up with their times or not.

Anyways, just thought it is another tool someone could use to help figure out where they might want to live.

It's definitely a good starting point.  I don't think there is Waze, but I'd have a look at nationalrail.co.uk and track trains you think you could potentially be on.  Unfortunately I don't think there is something like flightaware.com where you can see historical data.

It does seem accurate in that Watford only got a 22, which really indicates that it is a miserable place to live.  My town is not there, just in the general "London" cloud but it sure feels like a commute to me.
