Hello from Ohio!
« on: October 10, 2018, 05:01:00 AM »
Hi all! My husband and I met in Birmingham almost 10 years ago (hence the "Villa" in my name!). We have lived in Ohio since he moved here 9 years ago, but we are now strongly considering moving back to England. We are still a year or two out from the possible move, but we are in the info-gathering phase of this process to help make the best decision. We have two daughters--ages 7 and 8--so a big part of our decision is going to be based on schools, etc. Anyway, I am sure I'll have tons of questions, but I have already learned so much from this site--thank you!

Welcome!

For the kids, that will be a good and bad time to transition.  At age 11 kids start secondary school here.  It would be ideal if you were here when the eldest is 10 and in the last year of primary school so she can sit all the exams that will determine which secondary school she gets into.

This is a great point! There is so much to figure out, and this is a really important consideration. Thank you!

Hi Blondshania! We are from the Akron-Cleveland area--about midway between the two. I'm guessing that you like living in the UK if you've spent 16 years there?! It seems like a huge change from Ohio...

Hi I’ve been to Akron. Yes I’m a dual citizen now my husband and daughter are English. I prefer it here in the uk it’s much prettier we live on the south coast near the downs and the sea. Decided to live in the uk as hubby has a good job here’d take care

Congratulations on your citizenship ceremony! I am so glad you're happy there. The decision seems so overwhelming--it's incredibly reassuring to know others have had such a positive experience!
