Visa question on job application
« on: November 19, 2018, 08:15:09 AM »
Is anybody else getting sick to death of these online applications? They are completely biased. I just worked on an application all day for a job I really want just to get hit with the visa question. Worse...this application asked for my visa's end date without allowing me to say what visa it is and if I intend to stay. I addressed it in my statement but I bet you any money they see my answer to that question first and throw the rest away. :(
Has anybody had any luck lately with these online job applications??? I'm starting to panic.

I'm about ready to write to my MP about the bias inherent in hiring processes here. You just have to keep trying and make sure you tick as many of their boxes as possible, and try for everything you can.

There is no law here about not discriminating based on immigration status. Oh believe me this used to cause me such ire!
2004-2008: Student Visa
2008-2010: Tier 1 PSW
2010-2011: Tier 4
2011-2014: Tier 2
2013-2016: New Tier 2 (changed jobs)

I completely understand how you are feeling, but just keep plugging away at them. I used the free Monster CV analysis to look mine over, then tweeked it to correct the things the auto screening software didn’t like. As soon as I changed my CV I started getting interviews and now I’m working for the council. I applied to more jobs than you could possibly imagine and got nada! Until I made those changes. Had a job in 3 weeks after, and two other offers.
