We looked at a few Dusters but husband wanted a switch to petrol given the issues we've had with diesel and all we could find around here for our budget we're diesel ones. We pick up our new car Monday. Went with a Vauxhall Mokka. Only had 1 owner and made its way here from Glasgow. Very well taken care of with very low miles. Only 14K miles for a 2014. My CR-V had 189k when I sold it for the move lol.

Excellent!
2 girls in my office have identical blue Mokkas and they both love their cars! ☺

Some SUVs are smaller than others.

I've driven both a Toyota RAV4 and a Honda CR-V, and they didn't seem that big. They were nice to drive as well :).

Well, actually, the RAV4 seemed fairly big when I had one as a hire car for work a couple of years ago, but then we had one as a replacement car in the Falklands this year and it seemed tiny compared with the Land Rovers we normally drive (and a RAV4 is not an ideal car for the roads down there... you really need a Land Rover).

I want to drive a Fiat 500 over here. My Elantra in the states is a compact car there, but the same size as my Ibiza here, which feels huge compared to the narrow roads and parking spaces.

I used to want to drive a Fiat 500, until I had one for a hire car and absolutely hated it! It was the most uncomfortable car I've ever driven... it just didn't fit me and I ended up with leg/foot ache after only about 15 minutes of driving because my foot ended up turned at an awkward angle just so I could press the pedals.

Exciting!!

I think my next car may be a mazda if I can afford it. I miss my old 3 so much! If I can find something that handles similarly I'll be happy though. I did the worst test drive ever because it had been so long since I drove over here I wasn't comfortable with anything. I'm happy with our car but it could be better. (it gets stellar gas mileage)

Getting a new car is always exciting. Mokka was a good choice. Enjoy!

I've driven Mazdas since like 1980!  Had a Mazda GLC that was well into the 300,000 miles when I sold it. Got a Mazda Protege. Drove it for 200,000 miles. When it died I got another one and finally donated that one to an Animal Shelter the month before we moved over here. They were reliable cars. The GLC had a thing, late in its lifetime, about the back U-joints going out. The first Protege had a problem with the radiator getting gunked up (we lived in a place with extremely mineral-laden water at that time). The last one just went-and-went, until the computer that ran the ignition fried out. The cost to replace it was more than the car was worth. Fortunately, the animal shelter came and hauled it away and was able to sell it anyway!

I'm wondering what the new little Mazdas are like now?  Tempting to buy a used car, but I really have no use for one so that won't be happening. Unless we get to stay and end up moving into the sticks, where I need a car to get to town.

But there's nothing that says I might not buy myself a moped!  ;D

Having a car has given me back a lot of freedom, so even living somewhere with close public transit having a car feels essential. Even if I could take it, it still takes so much longer and costs more to go places outside of town. (£33 return to London, when if I drive 30 mins I can park for a couple £ and take the tube for a daily max of like £10)

The new Mazdas still have pretty good reviews. I haven't read about them much over here though, I would do my research before buying another one!
