I don't have any practical immigration advice, as it's out of my comfort zone, but just wanted to wish you best of luck sorting everything out.  He's very lucky to have you willing to go through this obstacle course to give him the security of a forever/lifetime home.  I'm an adoptee myself after living in several orphanages and with several foster parents, and now that I'm an adult, I realise how much my parents had to go through to adopt me from one country to another.  It truly is a labour of love!

Aww, Aquila, thank you so much for sharing your story.  There are many times we have thought about backing out, thinking that we were holding him back but the agencies over there have said we are not. They would have given his mom the same amount of time so he would have been in foster care for a minimum of 2 years.  We have 3 children at home and they are all on board with getting him here. Today is my daughter's 10th birthday but she knows how important it is for us to keep this all moving forward.  Anything we can do to get him here the soonest. Thank you again. xx Your story fills my heart. xx

I've contacted medivisas, will see if the plan is viable.  We would need to work on finding health coverage  that is good enough to see him through.

Small update, initial assessment went very well! Was very nervous but social worker was super friendly and really put us at ease. Will find out Monday if we move to the next phase but she is happy on her end.
