So we are supposed to believe that the Council of Europe is made up of people who are liars like me, who prey on the ignorant? Everyone in the EU is an idiot who doesn't have a degree like you?
What I do know from a cursory glance at the research is that it is not cut and dried either way, and your simplistic arguments are just that. There's two sides to this argument, and for you to call everything you disagree with "scientifically disproven crap" means you probably don't understand the real science any more than I do.
Most people are uninformed about most things in their life. A lot fall victim to silly hyped up things that someone tells them are healthier when science says otherwise.
I think that’s sad, but people are entitled to make bad choices and to choose to pay a premium for snake oil if they want to. That should not give them the right to say no one else should be allowed to buy anything but the same snake oil - which is conveniently made where the people making the rules come from.
There are no serious food safety scientists or food focused development economist or microbiologists in the world saying free range or organic or unpasteurized or unwashed or untreated or vitamin supplements or homeopathy are actually good. Quite the opposite. They’ll tell you about diseases and pathogens and environmental damage done by those overhyped and under researched practices.
And again, that’s okay if people want to be taken in by that stuff. It’s just not okay to mandate it on others. Again, the entire rest of the world is going off actual science. The EU is going off a system that protects small inefficient farmers and big European companies from external competition. I get that like climate change deniers, you guys aren’t going to be convinced by science, cause you’ve decided what you culturally want to believe. That’s fine. You can have all those things. You could have them in America too unless they’re manifestly unsafe. But it’s wrong to make poor people pay more for quality healthy safe food & reduce their economic opportunities because you’ve decided to defy science, believe in European superiority, and mandate that everyone else accept the same thing as an absolute... in the face of significant evidence to the contrary.
