Split time between UK and US
« on: December 21, 2018, 03:10:53 AM »
Hello all.

My wife was granted her spouse visa back in July of this year. We have a business in the US and still plan to keep it active. We are planning to split our time between the US and UK on a rotational basis. We will spend 4 weeks in the UK and then 2 weeks in the US and plan to continue that rotation for the next 12-18 months. My question is will the time away from the UK impact my wifes future application to remain in the UK after her initial 33 months are over?

So long as you can show the UK is your main residence and that you have lived TOGETHER the entire time, she'll be okay to renew her visa.

She won't ever qualify for naturalisation though...   :-\\\\

Thanks for the reply KFdancer.

Im a bit confused, how will the time away effect her being able to qualify for naturalisation? What are the requirements for naturlisation?

No more than 270 days out of the country in the previous 3 years, and no more than 90 of those can be in the previous 12 months before applying.
