That was kinda why I was asking. It says the deadline for the self-assessment was 5-Oct last year.
Generally, if I have no UK Income and paid US taxes do I still need to file?

The UK taxes you on your worldwide income, just like the USA does, so if your worldwide income is over £11,500 for tax year 2017/18 then you are required to file and pay taxes to HMRC. When you file your US taxes with the IRS you claim the UK taxes back as a tax credit.
The USA is almost unique in that it taxes its citizens no matter where they live. Every other country taxes its residents on their income as they are benefiting from the taxes paid to run the country they live in. When I was living in the USA my UK income was taxed by the IRS but was exempt from HMRC taxes.
Certain US income is exempt from HMRC taxes such as government pensions (not SS, which is taxed by HMRC).
