Hi everybody!
« on: December 26, 2004, 02:46:41 AM »
Hi everybody,
I moved to the UK as a "trailing spouse" to my wife.  We live in Oxford.  I'm a psychologist, and am trying to tackle licensure over here / set up a practice or work with the NHS.  My wife's contract is for a minimum of two years.  So far (2 months) I really like being here.

A little more about me.  I'm 30, turning 31 in April.  I finished my Ph.D. in clinical psychology in May of this year, and finished up my psychology internship/residency in August.  We got the word we'd be moving last June and finally made the move in November.

The two of us are originally from D.C. but spent about 5 years in Chicago and one year in Miami before moving here.  We've still got a house in Oak Island, North Carolina and I kind of miss some aspects of it (read - Krispy Kreme.)  I will have been married for six years this January.  No kids, too busy/selfish doing the whole school thing.  But who knows.

This board is the most active one I've come across and I look forward to reading and contributing messages.

Merry Christmas Everybody!
Stephan

Hi there, welcome! You can get Kirspy Kreme at Harrods and there are supposed to be more outlets opening around the UK.

Hey there Dr...I'm a school counselor at the American School in London...my best friend is a psychologist in the States and I know how crazy her program was & all the licensure/internship etc was...so you have my respect! Best of luck with all the licensure stuff over here...I know in London we're always looking for good therapists so I'm sure you'll find plenty of work over here!

Thanks Onetiger!  I'm looking forward to getting more settled, and I'm applying to positions with the NHS.  We'll see how things go!
