Hi there, we’ve submitted all the info and scanned documents into the online application form/process, and attended the biometrics appointment today. The guy at the biometrics appt centre simply checked the physical documents against what we had scanned and uploaded ourselves, and then he gave them all back to us - including the USA passport and said ‘just don’t leave the country’ ...

I’m slightly confused as the first application required us to send all the physical documents and evidence to Sheffield. This time it appears that they simply look at the documents at biometrics processing and hand them back.

Somewhere in my head I was sure we are supposed to actually send the papers and passport - as we did the first time - but we’ve been told this isn’t necessary for this mid-way application.

Can I just check that this sounds right? I don’t want us to miss something and end up having the application rejected because we didn’t send the actual papers...

Thanks
Simon

I experienced the same when applying for naturalisation recently. I did notice that the website stated the ability to scan documents at home was new.

I wasn't told not to leave the country, however. I even asked as I have travel plans before the expiry date on a decision. I hope that isn't the case!

Hi Simon, I'm not an expert, but our experience was similar. a couple of weeks ago. We hadn't uploaded the documents, we paid for them to scan. They just took all the originals at the biometrics appointment, scanned them all and handed the originals back, and the visa's subsequently been approved.

If one of the more experienced contributors on here haven't said otherwise I'd assume it's all ok.

(my wife didn't get told not to leave the country either, though she was quizzed quite intensely on her opinion of the NBA's MVP!)

What you were told is correct.  The process has changed dramatically in the last 12 months.

Hi KFdancer,
"What you were told is correct.  The process has changed dramatically in the last 12 months."
Are you answering about the documents or the passport returned & nothing was said about not leaving the country?
I am asking because my wife needs to leave right after I submit the ILR Set (M) application.
I can't seem to find any information about it.
Thank You,
Cliff
