Weird worm trojan virus message
« on: July 14, 2019, 06:02:16 PM »
Hi. Clicked a notification link (for a conversation) in my yahoo email that I had clicked on with success previously and was taken to a page that told me UKY thought I had a worm, or was going to spam the forum, and would let me through if I correctly entered the sum of two numbers. It then did let me through.

I was not logged in at the time, and was using a VPN.

I'm running an in-depth virus/malware scan on my computer now. Has anyone had this happen to them? Is it a known quirk of UKY?

Can't help you with what to do about it, but can confirm I've not had this happen to me before and have not heard of anybody talk about this happening previously.

The virus scan is clean. The Daughter says that it's probably something with the board's software seeing the incoming from Yahoo, as "most spam comes from Yahoo."

I've never heard of anything like that either.  I'd be careful to run a malware scan like you said.  I do have some other weirdness connecting  with UKYankee on one particular computer, so I'm not surprised.

I was just asked if I wanted to proceed to UKY as it was deemed as "suspicious" by gmail. It didn't mention anything about a worm/trojan virus or anything, but I just thought I'd let you know in case it's linked. It's the first I've encountered this as well, by the way. It didn't ask me for a pin, just to confirm that I wanted to proceed to the website.,

Hmmmm. Any chance the board is infected then? But if it was, I'd still be getting alerts when I log in. So....

I've run two different virus scanners, and two different malware ones, and come up clean. The message I was getting was from the Board itself, when I got it. I regret not taking a screencap now.

I doubt it. Seems like a weird, one-off situation for me as I've not been asked again since on any of the recent notifications. Weird indeed.
