So over it... GA summer

It’s absolutely awful.  There is no respite.  I really feel for the residents “being laughed at”. They can’t just turn on the air conditioning.  People are dying, literally.  The jokes are tasteless. 

I really hope it breaks soon!

A fellow American in the U.K. posted on Facebook yesterday asking forgiveness from the universe for saying she couldn’t wait to get away from southern US  summers.

My daughter is learning the constellations in science. I told her we would look at them the next time we are in Florida. She said “oh can we not see them here?”  Me “can’t have clouds”. Too funny that I have NO memories of constellations here.  We REALLY don’t see them!

Oh I will miss the stars! I spend a lot of time outside at night because I like the dark. But not enough to want to have so much sun!

Next time you're in Scotland try to look ... we occasionally get them on a clear night.

Problem at this time of year is that it barely gets dark, that's why it's much easier to see the stars in the winter as the opposite problem exists!

I suspect it's a combination of things.

Like you say, this time of year it's barely dark so I'm rarely outside when it IS dark.

I DO remember seeing a meteor shower really clearly in my first year here, which was incredible.  Genuinely, I think I was just spoiled growing up.  Spent a TON of time at the beach with friends at night (FREE!), so have many many memories of laying back in the sand with the warm air pointing out constellations with one another.  I just don't have those same memories here.  When we go camping in August, I'll have to make a point to go outside and look at the stars!

My favourite star memory was on safari in South Africa.  We went to the top of a hill and our ranger had the most INCREDIBLE laser pointer that could just connect to a star to show you the constellations.  The sky was SO clear, the air warm, the pointer thing super cool, in the middle of the African bush and it was seeing all the southern hemisphere constellations!  Truly a magical moment!!

Update: My extreme exhaustion is not really getting better. It is no surprise that this is coinciding with it being hotter and more humid. I have had several mental health meltdowns in the last ten or so days. I am not specifically blaming the heat, but is just too much of a pile on with everything else.
It’s the heat. The need for air conditioning which is loud and it’s blowing. It’s having to restrict outside time, which I desperately need. It’s the sun. It’s just too bright. And so many other things.

Update: IT IS STILL HOT AF HERE in GA.
80+ for more than half of the last two weeks of March
82+ for more than half of April and May, with the lowest high only 68
85+ every single day in June except ONE
Ditto July, but without exception.
And now it has been 92+ for the last two weeks straight.  Please kill me.
For those counting, that's 16+ weeks of 'need to wear shorts'.  I'm calculating at least 5 more weeks of tank tops and sundresses or you die.
At least I'll get a break Oct-Feb before my last go of GA heat.  We are moving at the end of May, with me coming back for a few weeks (after getting them settled for a week or two) to pack up the container.
Hopefully I'll be able to get it done and get out of here before it's unbearable.
