Final checks and questions before visa submission
« on: June 28, 2019, 10:35:14 PM »
Hi All,

So, I fly to the USA early next week and I'm getting the last bits ready for the Visa application, but I have a few last minute questions! I am the sponsor so I'm focusing on those documents. We aim to submit the application on the 9th/10th July.

1. Do I need to have the photocopy of my passport page certified and if so, where can I do this? I've check on the post office site and it can't seem to find any branch that offer this service?
2. I have 7 months payslips (Dec-June) and bank statements from 19th Nov - 19th June. Do I need to go into branch to get 19th June-30th June or will what I have be okay?
3. We have the application mostly filled out and I've completed the appendix 2 VAF4A, are these the only forms we need to fill out?

Many thanks in advance!

1.  I don't think the passport photo page needs to be certified.  But if you want to do it for peace of mind, you're looking for "Document Certification", and it's £12.75.

2.  As long as your most recent payslip and the most recent bank statement is dated within 28 days of when you/your partner clicks to submit the online application, you're fine.  Your employer letter must also be within 28 days of when you click to submit the application.  Do you have that, yet?

3.  I'm not completely familiar with the new application process, but those are the two forms that require filling in.  The applicant will also need to take the biometrics form with them to have scanned when they go to give fingerprints, but that doesn't require filling in.

1. If they don't need certifying then that's fine, I know where to look and how much it is with the post office but their website doesn't seem to be working right now because it can't locate any branches that offer that service :( I have my Passport and birth certificate so I;m sure they won't have an issue with me being who I say I am.

2. the most recent payslip is the 27th June and most recent bank statement goes to the 19th June. So if we submit on the 9th/10th that should be fine then? I already have my employer letter stamped and signed and all of my payslips stamped and signed.

3. That sounds good then. I know we'll have to print off the biometrics, but as long as they're the only other forms that's great!

For point 2. You need to have bank statements covering the entirety of your payslips, so if you got paid on 27th june, you must have a statement covering that date (and the period on the payslip). I am currently waiting till July 1 to submit as my payslip covers 1-30 June, so i need a statement to cover that whole month.

Welcome! I’m in the same boat and the only reason i know is so many people on here been happy to help me!
My bank is being a pain - they only can print from 2nd Jan to todays date so doesn’t count (no idea why) so I need to wait for original statements to come and then will get them to print the most recent one to cover June - June 30.  Just hope it’s ok to mix and match format - can anyone confirm?
Ie. Bank statements for Dec Jan Feb March april may then for June a bank printout stamped?

Thanks

I had to order my statements online which takes 5 working days plus postage, so I could only get to June 19th. I phoned them up and they said they don't do things in branch now (but I think he had his facts wrong as he also didn't even know what was needed for the Visa paperwork from the bank). I'm flying out on Monday to go to the states to get married and submit our visa, so with the timing, I will have to go to a branch on Monday morning before I fly to try and get the print out. The guy on the phone said an online statement would be fine and they don't certify them anymore, but on the guidance it says online statements have to be stamped and certified so I'm just going to go into branch.

Mine should all be the same format then I believe on official headed paper. For reference, I'm with HSBC and don't get paper statements (everythings online).

Thank you for the help so far, I managed to get the bank to print out the final days for me before I flew out (now in the USA!).

Just a quick last questions, on the application it asks how long my OH plans to be in the UK and how long I have been in the UK. Would the answers to that be he plans to stay indefinitely, or for the 2.5/5 years as per the visa limits? and I assume for how long I've been here it would be since my DOB as I've been here my whole life? It doesn't give a "since birth" option.

Final checks and questions before visa submission

For you, you put your date of birth (if it won’t let you put ‘since birth’).

For him, you can put permanently or indefinitely - it’s a silly question really, as it mainly applies to people on visitor visas who have to show they will not stay more than 6 months, but they basically use the same form template for all visas, including fiancé or spousal visas where you are usually making a permanent move, so the question doesn’t really make sense.
