UK Residence Permit- Income Requirement?
« on: July 15, 2019, 04:09:02 PM »
Has anyone had any luck getting their spouse a UK residence permit instead of a spousal visa?

I'm wondering what the financial requirement is for this, and if I'll have to go live there ahead of him because we are both in the USA now.

What are your nationalities? That will determine which route you use to move to the UK.

I'm a UK and a US citizen, I have both passports. My husband is a US citizen.

Then unfortunately a spousal visa is needed. The spouse will be issued a BRP - biometric residence permit - once they enter the country with their approved visa.

People with European citizenship can (until Brexit, if it happens) move via EEA rules and apply for a residence permit but that is a very different process, with a lot of uncertainty right now due to Brexit.

Do you have enough info on the different ways to meet the financial requirements of a spouse visa?
