Hi all,

I just had a quick question. I'm in the final stages of an interview for a new job – but with the notice period to leave my old job and starting the new one, I won't have the six months of payslips from the new place for my FLR(M) renewal which is early 2020. Is it possible to use payslips from an old job and a new one to make up the six months, or is that inviting trouble? For example, using the last two payslips from job 1 (current/old job) and adding the additional four payslips from job 2 (the new one).

The backup is using my husband's payslips, but this has historically been a pain for the visa process so we're attempting to avoid it for the renewal by using mine.

You can use 12 months instead of 6 months with Category B, in a worst case scenario. :) The letter will come from the new employer confirming your current and ongoing income.

I don't work, and had to rely on my husband's job(s) to sponsor my visas.  He left his job of 15 years to start a new job about 6 weeks before my ILR application.  Since we had no choice but to use his employment, and he'd not been with the new employer for at least six months, we had to go Category B, rather than Category A, for that application.  The only difference is you would use 12+ months of payslips and 12+ months of bank statements.  All other evidence is the same between the two categories.  As Margo said, the employer letter comes from the employer at the time of application, to confirm your current and ongoing income.

Aaaaah that's good! Looks like, if I do get the job, I should just start printing off payslips from my old job on my last day  ;) But all good to know because I was having a right moment this morning worrying about this

I would get those anyways just in case! My job hands them to me on payday which is nice.

Already on it! My payslips went digital last November so I have asked for some of the months beforehand, getting that HR wheel a'grinding  ::)

If your payslips from your first job are digital and you're printing them yourself, you'll need to have them authenticated with a letter from that employer.  So you could end up needing two employer letters.  One to authenticate the first set of payslips, and one to verify your new employment details.

Drat! But then would I need to make sure the previous employer letters/authentication were within 28 days of my FLR(M) application?

No, I don't think so.  The employer's letter verifying your employment needs to be within 28 days because UKVI need to know that you are currently employed and will be going forward.  A recent letter makes it more likely that nothing has changed in your circumstances.

The letter authenticating your previous job's  payslips doesn't have a time constraint.  The payslips aren't going to suddenly become not-authentic.  Just print off all the payslips and have your boss/HR write a letter authenticating them before you leave.  That's all that letter needs to contain, is "The payslips dated, and in the amounts listed below, are true and correct" and a list of the payslips.  It must be on company letterhead.

Ahhhhh that makes much more sense than what I was thinking
